a sign of spring

i have the same feelings every year when march rolls around. that feeling that since its march, it should be nice spring like weather. but i forget i live in idaho, and that is very much not the case. although being here in moscow idaho this winter has proved to be much better than the winter rexburg has had this year!

parker and i are both feeling the cabin fever, and we are getting bored being inside all day. come on spring, hurry up and get here already!

here are just some random photos ive snapped during the month. when parker was little, i was always, ALWAYS taking pictures of him. ive been majorly slacking in that department lately, so ive been trying to keep my camera handy to snap some pictures of our everyday activities.

when parker was just little, like barely sitting up little, id get my laundry out of the dryer and dump it on the floor in the living room right by him to fold it. he would reach in to the pile and try to wrap his fingers around anything he could get his hands on. to this day, he still loves to help me "fold" the laundry and makes his own little piles of "folded" clothes. he has recently taken a liking into helping me load the washer, and then move the clothes to the dryer. its cute.

i read somewhere to start chores early with kids because the younger they are, the more fun they think the chores are. besides helping me with laundry, we try to have parker put the silverware away every time we unload the dishwasher, which he LOVES to do. sweeping is another favorite of his, and just the other day, i let him stand on the bathroom counter to help me clean the mirrors.
a little flu bug visited our house the other week, hitting all three of us. parker started with it, then i came down with it, and finally jared. it was just a short 24 hour thing, but yuck! so glad to be done with it.
one of parkers favorite things to do is to help me cook. whenever he sees me in the kitchen pulling out things to start cooking/baking, he immediately grabs a chair and pushes it over to "help." i have a love/hate relationship with this. it absolutely stresses me out, and i have to repeat, "DONT TOUCH! ITS HOT!" about a million times, but i love that he wants to be doing what im doing. love that buddy of mine.
we've made some major progress when it comes to nursery at church. we can now drop parker off with no tears. again, im not sure how i feel about it. of course im glad he is now happy to go, and not the child that cries every sunday, but it also means he is getting bigger and doesnt necessarily need mama all the time anymore. *sigh* another love/hate relationship im tellin' ya!
and so we've just been trying to pass the time to spring by playing with friends, and finding new things to do. he is really liking puzzles, and im blown away by how quickly he can put them together.
the other day after i had finished doing the dishes, the dish fairy  must have stopped by and noticed they were already done, so he left me a treat instead!
while we were playing earlier this week, i looked out my window to see this robin sitting in a tree in my backyard. so if that wasnt a sign that spring is near, im not sure what is!
ohhh winter, im so over you. hurry up spring!

THAT mom

ive been pretty lucky when it comes to shopping with parker.
he has always been a good shopper, for the most part.
and i try to place the cart in places that he cant reach for things.
a few days ago, we were at walmart in the cleaning isle.
there were a few other people in the isle, so i parked the cart
at the end of the isle and walked a few steps away to grab what i needed.
next thing i know, i look over to see him holding a bottle of cleaner, and
almost as if it was in slow motion, i saw the bottle slowly slip from his hands
and crash down to the floor, spilling EVERYWHERE.
i was sooooo embarrassed, as i quickly walked over to him, stating,
"AHHHH PARKER!!!!!"
his reply?
"uh-oh mama.... mess!"
ummmm, yes buddy, you made a mess.
i tried to find a employee to tell, so i walk around the store holding an
almost empty bottle of cleaner, and smelling just like it.
i finally just went up to the check out, and told the lady
how sorry i was, and that i would totally pay for it.
she told me not to worry about it, and that it happens all the time.
she even asked if i wanted a new full bottle!
i walked out of walmart thinking....
yup, im THAT mom.
*sigh*

but how can THAT mom be mad at her child when he looks like this....
little stinker.

we had ourselves a pretty simple, low key valentines day.
we started the morning off with some donuts and
chocolate milk in these cute little heart shape mugs,
courtesy of my awesome old roommate caden!
guess he only wanted the chocolate....
if this doesnt say happiness, i dont know what does....
hope you all had a great lovers day!
